What we do

Outdoor and Environmental Sustainability Training (OEST) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) setup to support the outdoor education community to provide opportunities for students to learn outside. We partner with outdoor and environmental centres across Queensland and to a wider extent, their client schools to help build capacity and provide access to learning opportunities that encourage “learning beyond the classroom”.

Who we cater for

Sunrise beach walkThe audience that we are targeting is predominantly teachers but we also work with Outdoor Leaders working in the field of Outdoor Education. We also have numerous courses specifically developed for students.

The ultimate goal is to provide an increasing and evolving range of courses that meet the needs of teachers in Queensland. As such, our alliance with the Outdoor and Environmental Education centres not only provides us with venues in which to deliver training all over Queensland but provides us with a rich wealth of experience and expertise to enhance the quality and range of related programs.

Staff and students from the Department of Education, private school teachers, private school students and those that are involved in the outdoor recreation and environmental industry are able to access our services.

The OEST RTO is based at the Tallebudgera Beach School in the Tallebudgera Active Recreation Centre facility at the southern end of Queensland’s magnificent Gold Coast. It provides the administration and business hub for the program activities. However, the design of the OEST RTO is to engage in partnerships with all 26 Outdoor and Environmental Education centres in Queensland. Program delivery will occur across the whole state. This will support school teachers to access training at a minimal cost, reduce the time and cost of travel and at venues that are specifically known and familiar to teachers. We also plan to share the expertise and the intellectual capital that goes with the OEST RTO across all of our centres and their related staff.
