We are really pleased to be able to offer Qualifications to Volunteers of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (The Duke of Ed) from all over Australia. A special welcome to Adventure Journey Volunteers from Queensland for whom we are able to provide heavily subsidised training due to the partnership in place with the Queensland State Award Office.

The course provides the following nationally recognised units of competency:

When choosing a Registered Training Organisation to provide the practical units you require, you will need to ensure the course provides all the units required for that specific skillset.

Queensland Participants

We are really pleased to be able to offer Activity Specifications to Queensland Duke of Ed Volunteers at a heavily subsidised rate.

In Queensland, Adventurous Journey Supervisors require the set of units that make up a Skillset from the Certificate 3 in Outdoor Recreation in the pursuit areas they wish to lead.

The Qld State Award Operating Authority (SAOA) has arranged training to provide the theory units for any of the following skillsets:

  • Bushwalking
  • Canoeing
  • Kayaking
  • Climbing
  • Abseiling
  • Challenge Ropes Course

The normal price of this training is $499 but when approved by the Qld SAOA within DET, volunteers can access the training for $100. To check your eligibility please contact the Qld SAOA. Once you have received approval you can Click Here to Enrol in the course.

When looking for practical courses we encourage you to consider Maroon Outdoor Education Centre as they have worked closely with the Qld SAOA to develop courses that are specifically designed to provide the exact units you will need.

If you decide to engage with another Training Organisation please make sure that you will receive the following units listed for the pursuit area you are interested in:
