Fishing is an elective that can be included in the certificate 2 in Outdoor Recreation. It can be a difficult unit of competency to obtain as it is not offered by very many RTO’s. For example in period of 2011 – 2014 the unit “Select, rig and use terminal tackle (SISOFSH203A)” was only awarded 76 times in Australia. North Lakes State College, in partnership with OEST has organised for a one-off fishing course to be run for teachers wishing to gain this qualification. This will not be a regular part of our training calendar so if you are interested I encourage you to take this opportunity to attend.
As with all of our courses special attention will be paid to how this activity can be used educationally by paying specific attention to teaching strategies, active reflection methods and how to help your students members transfer their learning to everyday life.
The course will cover:
- Catching fish
- Bait collection
- Rigging terminal tackle
- Selection and use of fishing tackle
Course Date: Thursday 27th July 2017
